Style Watch: 10 Must Haves

Friday, October 21st, 2005

Browsing thru Neiman Marcus…here are the 10 Must Haves this season…

1. Renaissance

- Think lace…think ruffles…think brocade…they are all back! I love lace actually coz It goes well with pearls and I am not called the ”Pearl Lady" for nothing. I’m glad they’re back. Here’s what I found at Neiman Marcus Online. I love this Brocade d’Orsay pumps by Manolo Blahnik…I just wish I could afford one. Haha

Blahnik_brocade_dorsay (Blahnik Brocade d’Orsay pumps)

2. To-the-knee Boots

- I am not that comfy wearing boots…I’d probably pass on this one. Well, I just have two boots…black and camel…haven’t used them in years…last time I wore boots, it was for a fashion show and that’s over a decade na. Oh, no, siguro mga two years ago I wore boots pa pala sa office…tsk, tsk, forgetful…well, that proves Im not much of a boots fan.

3. Embellished Jeans

-I am not a fan of embellished jeans either…I think I’ll pass!

4. Brown & Camel

- Lately I’m into brown and the shades of its family…it goes well with mustard, yellow and the likes. I have this new mustard pumps I bought in Rustan’s, EDSA Shangri-La Mall…nice! (Next time picturan ko…I’ve exceeded my photo limit in friendster blog kasi)

5. Black

- Ah, I adore BLACK! My passion for black dates back in high school…enough said, I’m glad they’re back.

No, pink is no longer the new black, guys…black will always be black.

6. Velvet

- Not a fan of velvet…the Philippines is too hot to accommodate such tela.

7. Metallics

- Ah, this one I love wearing…even before the trend started, I have lots of metallics…I just added a big Bottega Veneta bag for my collection.

Metallics now however doesn’t end with the good ol’ Gold and Silver and probably bronze (my fave)…now there are metallic pink, green, blue…what have you. Well, with those I’d probably pass…I’d still go for the classic gold, silver esp. bronze

Juicy_couture_metallic_hobo

(Juicy Couture metallic hobo)

8. Full Skirts

-I’m not a full skirt lady…my hips are too wide to wear full skirts. I just look awful in them. So,pass!

That’s the problem with some people, just because it’s "uso" you have to wear them…if it doesn’t flatter your figure, trash it!

I’ve seen oh so many people looking hideous on uso clothes that doesn’t fit their body type…they end up looking "Trying Hard." Same goes with those who wear jackets on summer months, those who wear white pants on rainy months or those who wear shades indoors…hello??? From what planet are you ba? :)

9. Fur

- Fur? Malamig ba sa Manila? Hehe. PASS!

Look at this Marc Jacobs Chinchilla Venetia bag…cute sana kaso I don’t wanna be caught dragging my dog around HEHE

Marc_jacobs_chinchilla_venetia

10. Volume

Don’t wear this if you’re top heavy…you’ll look heavier!

For more pictures and fashion…visit Neiman Marcus Online

My Fashion Rules:

- if it doesn’t fit you…trash it! Know your body type and stick with what looks good on you…just add accessories, bags, shoes to update your look.

- if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it. You won’t feel good knowing you have no lunch money for months just for an expensive buy…not very smart!

Craving for TIFFANY

Friday, October 21st, 2005

I am thinking of buying this nice Tiffany bracelet…kaso it costs $450 (that’s more or less Php 25,000) Hmmm…is it really worth it? It’s sterling silver kasi…do they have it in gold kaya? Kaso I’m not fond of gold and I don’t think they have white gold…I’d better check. Hehe

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: "The Lion,The Witch and The Wardrobe"

I can’t wait for this Movie. I guess this will be shown November or December of this year…I dunno really, basta Holiday 2005 daw.

The Chronicles of Narnia is a 7-part book. It was the second book,"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." that was made into a movie by Disney. Lion_witch_wardrobe

Here are all 7 books:

1. The Magician’s Nephew

2. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

3. The Horse and His Boy

4. Prince Caspian

5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

6. The Silver Chair

7. The Last Battle

ABOUT THE AUTHOR (Taken from the book)

"Clive Staples Lewis, known as Jack to his friends, was born in 1898. Lewis and his good friend J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, were part of the Inklings, an informal writer’s club that met at a local pub to discuss story ideas. Lewis’s fascination with fairytales, myths and ancient legends, coupled with inspiration drawn from his childhood, led him to write THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, one of the best-loved books of all time. Six further books followed to become the immensely popular CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. Last_battle

The final title in the series, THE LAST BATTLE, was awarded the Carnegie Medal, one of the highest marks of excellence in children’s literature."

I came to know of this book thru my officemates Sarjie and Tonette. Another officemate, Jehan and I went to buy the first two books first to make sure we don’t waste money if we buy the whole 7 of them and then end up not liking it….anyway, I wish I bought them all. I am in the middle of the second book and I am soooooooooo hooked! I love it!

Go buy it. Definitely a must read. It will bring out the kid in you.

I am so gonna watch this movie. Knowing Disney, it would be something great!

HK Trip 2nd time around

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Sept 22-26,2005

The first time I went to HK (April of this year), it was a company incentive…this time, it’s with my in-laws.

It all started when my Mabuhay Miles will expire Sept this year. As they say…"Sayang ang Miles" so might as well use it. Would you believe I was able to get two free tickets dahil sa miles na yan! Whoah! Ergo, free kami ni Gerry…and then, since Disney opened this Sept, sama na si Papa and Jen. Kuya Gary, who came all the way from NJ, USA, met with us there.

Sept 22, 2005

Manila-Hongkong via PR306 255PM

When we got there, Tim, our tour guide was late. We thought we went to the wrong hintayan…anyway, we were brought to the hotel first, rest muna and waited for kuya Gary to arrive from NJ.

Before kuya arrived, Gerry and I went out to look for a place to eat dinner. Of course, konting sight seeing na rin since we’re at the heart of the shoppingan.

Dinner time. We ate at this local Chinese Resto on Nathan Road…I forgot the name. (When kuya Gary’s bill arrive, I’ll ask him since he was the one who paid for our dinner. Hehe.)

Then, window shopping muna since tomorrow we will go to Shenzhen naman…didn’t buy anything yet…just window shopping.

Papa,Jenjen and Kuya’s room at The Royal Pacific was sooooo warm…a busted aircon, I guess…

SHENZHEN,CHINA

We enjoyed our stay in Shenzhen…not for anything else but because of our tour guide, Michael. He’s so funny…I mean the way he talked and pronounce things…(China=Chiner, Million=Milling etc) he even cracked a joke about Bill "Clinin" (the former US President).

Nothing much to see here except for the Window of the World but we didn’t include it in our IT…more walking = Papa getting tired…besides, we wanna go shopping coz it’s really cheap here than in HK. So, pictures infront lang.

Back to Hongkong…DISNEYLAND TOUR!!! Nyahoo!

But, if you’ve been to one of the Disneylands in the US, this is no paradise…but it was the next best thing in Asia. For one, this is smaller…no need to use tram from one "land" to the other.

Dad_me_disney_hkThe weather was a bit not cooperative…there was a signal #3. It is not the same as OUR signal #3. It was just drizzling but the outdoor rides were all cancelled. We just enjoyed the indoor rides na lang. No much tao…in fact, didnt see any pinoy… all Chinese and some caucasians.

(Me and dad in front of HK Disneyland…Ito ang signal#3 sa kanila…may araw!) Grrr! No rides! Makatarungan ba?

Ocean Park today!

We were picked up by the coach a bit past 9AM…late na yun…dapat 830am…it was raining hard…thought the trip will be postponed kasi wala sila for almost an hour…anyway, they arrived and even because it’s raining, tuloy kami…pwede naman pala magkapote so the show must go on.

Uwian na…back to reality!

Hongkong-Manila via PR307 600PM

In the morning…went to Nathan Road to shop some more…Esprit, Giordano, Bossini, U2, LaCoste,Crocodile etc…

Ayan, we were late DAW for the bus pick up…when we got back to the hotel, wala pa yung tour guide, when we went down to get our stuff they left five mins ago daw…they were always late whenever they pick us up for the tour, we never complained…pero 5 mins late, they left us. Yung 5 mins depende pa yan whose watch we are refering to…kasi we may be late to them pero on time sa amin. When they said we weren’t there, they didnt bother to call us up at the room to check on us…tama ba yun?  Ergo, never get Ann’s Travel House of HK. Bogus sila.

We went to take a cab going to the airport…kuya Gary took us there…he will stay pa kasi for one more night.

We enjoyed our trip. It was relaxing and nothing beats like a vacation with family.
