Blame it on the hormone pills

"WALA AKONG MASUOT!"

Do you ever find yourself standing in front of your closet, looking for an outfit and then realizing…"OMG,wala akong masuot!" ?

Most of my fashionista friends would exclaim this expression for different reasons. Far more different than mine. Their reason(s) would be that they want new clothes because their closet finds are a bit outdated…or because what’s left in their closet were all mismatched (you know, the type when you just used the only top that goes well with the pants you’re about to use…) or they just want new clothes PERIOD.

Mine would be…because nothing fits me right anymore. I mean, they still fit me but they are all too tight now. Why? Hello??? I gained 10 lbs.! Blame it on the hormone pills I’ve been taking since last year. Some peeps say I look better now because my butt is bigger and rounder but some would say that I look better less 10 lbs. for whatever reason. (Actually, I am just 5 lbs. overweight. At 5′6” I used to be 115 lbs. which is 5 lbs. underweight. The ideal weight for me is 120 lbs. So do the math)

The question now is…to buy or not to buy new clothes? Well, personally I’d rather not buy new "fat" clothes for two reasons. One, it is not practical. I don’t want to  buy new clothes just so that I have something to wear in the meantime. I mean, I don’t wanna think that I am no longer returning back to my old size, right? And two, having nothing to wear would actually inspire me…no, no, push me to lose the unwanted weight.

It’s a good thing my OB told me to stop taking the pills starting this August. Let’s just hope there is a positive outcome to that.

My BIRTHDAY!

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

For the past three years now, my husband Gerry and I would celebrate my birthday in Greenbelt. We would dine first in a resto and then grab a few drinks at Tavern…just the two of us. It’s one of our fave hang-outs since I love to watch bands (was a frustrated band vocalist kasi) and he loves to dance.

This year, my birthday was celebrated three days in a row.

July 23. Gerry brought me to Tavern, Greenbelt for dinner. I thought it will just be the two of us. I was surprised to see our friends there. Hubby gave me a surprise party! First came Jon then his wife Rica. Kat and Kimmy followed after. Pam and a date followed late in the evening. The band which played that evening was ESCAPE. (Kat’s BF, Kim is the drummer of Escape.) We enjoyed the evening. I was in a nice place eating nice food and having fun with a nice crowd…my friends of course! :)

July 24. Hubby and I slept most of the day. Too tired perhaps. Oh, he cooked lunch. Sweet no? Anyway, we went to hear mass at 7pm and then, since I was craving for fried pla-pla,we had dinner at Dencio’s, Sucat (the one near Brittany Bay). Loved the ambiance! We enjoyed the evening just the two of us. We strolled around before we went back home.

At home…Gerry and I was watching the news…then, a few minutes before 12MN, Gerry went out of the room. I thought he just went to pee or something then at exactly 12MN, I was surprised by the sound of party poppers, confetti flying around and Gerry singing "Happy Birthday"…and we were both laughing hard. Then he handed me my gift…a Samsonite laptop bag with…a laptop of course. I thought that was the only gift. Well, there is one more…but that one?.. that will be just between me and my hubby. Go figure. HEHE c",)

July 25. Gerry and I went to fetch my family. Everyone was there! My sister, Dr. Lanie just arrived from her 24 hour duty at the hospital. We had lunch at Saisaki, West. We enjoyed the moment. We were serenaded by a "band" and my dad jammed with them. They even called him Mr. Elvis Presley…read between the lines.

After that, we went malling at Gateway, Cubao. We had merienda at Pizza Hut Bistro. It’s a bit nicer than the usual Pizza Hut. In Gateway, there is this ala "green house" area of Pizza Hut and we went to eat there. The ambiance was sooooo nice. I love it there. Babaw pero I love the feeling of enjoying food and ambiance with all the people I love….PERFECT!

We went home around 7pm I think.

After taking them back home, Gerry took me to Skyline, Vivere, Alabang. We were seated in a nice corner overlooking the city lights and the moon shining on Laguna Bay…sooo nice. Since we were still full that evening, we just grab a few drinks and pica-pica. It was sooo romantic. Hubby made me feel soooo special. It was indeed a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

I will post pics as soon as my Kuya send them to me via email. Ahem, Kuya, I’m waiting. :)

War of the Worlds

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

War_of_the_worldsOMG, this movie soooo disppointed me. I always thought that since it’s a Steven Spielberg movie plus it’s Tom Cruise, it’s a great movie. I was dead wrong. I want my money back!

The cinematography & movie effects were great but I find the scenes annoying & stressful, and the story, cheesy! If you’ve seen this movie, you know what I mean.

WHY?

My goodness! Dakota Fanning,Justin Chatwin and Tim Robbins’ role in this movie is what we pinoys call "mga PASAWAY." They annoyed me. Well, at least their characters did. While the whole world struggle for existence, they made it all the more difficult for Tom Cruise. Argh! Kainis! Na-stress ako, I swear!

Dakota Fanning, mag-tantrums ba? Justin Chatwin, pagpilitan ba to join the military to help save the world and make your dad undergo the stress of choosing who to save from danger, ikaw na ayaw magpapigil umalis or your sister na gustong itakbo ng strangers to safety? Saka Tim Robbins, mag-ingay ba, eh baka nga marinig kayo at balikan ng mga alien. KULIIIIIIIIIT!!! Mga pasaway diba?!

Next, the story was cheesy PERIOD

Everyone you’re running with dies and gets blasted while you run free. (I’m refering to the first encounter with the "tripods.") Then, your dysfunctional family all of sudden reunites, well not exactly pero at least nagka-sundo. Must it take an alien invasion to finally accept your father and call him dad when in fact, you grew up without respect for this man? Duhh talaga! Saka, how the hell did you survive that blast from the "tripods"? Hello??!

To top it all, there are lots of discrepancies. First, before the "tripods" appear, all electronic equipment stops working. (Electricity, phonelines, celphones, car batteries, etc…) Still, when the first tripod appears one guy films the whole scenery with a camcorder. Ganun din sa media who caught on tape how these tripods come down by means of "lightning." There is another scene where in the presence of the "tripods" didn’t affect the lights of the boat and of the port area. Ano ba talaga, kuya??! Sha nga naman, night kasi, baka hindi sila makita. Madilim. HEHE

Second, if the aliens want our blood for survival, why all the blasting? Duh??? What was really their purpose? Do they need our planet kaya they want to exterminate us or they need our blood to survive? O wala lang, type lang nila tayo "warlahin" HAHA

Third. The blasting. While everyone gets blasted and turned into ashes, their clothes remain intact, well, a bit torn. There was even a scene where it was raining…clothes from those who got blasted. Baduy! Kainis.

Nagustuhan ko lang yung narration ni Morgan Freeman.

Funny nga I overheard sa CR a group of girls na galit na galit din coz they were disappointed as well. Hay, naku, if you haven’t seen this movie, WAG NA! c”,)
