JENNIFER ANISTON: My Ultimate Fashion Icon

Monday, May 30th, 2005

Eversince I saw Jennifer Aniston in FRIENDS, I fell in love with her. I mean, don’t Jenniferaniston1148_2 take this literally but I really love her wit, her humor, her fashion sense and her style. From then on, I religiously watch FRIENDS.

I bought the complete FRIENDS DVD from Loi, a friend of mine from GirlTalk.

Her style influences me a lot. She’s a classic but trends do suit her as well. I even try to find similar outfits as her’s. I was successful in looking for something simlar to this. F&H (Folded&Hung) has their own version. Not as daring as this neckline but the design is sooo similar…even the fabric. I’ll post the blouse I bought as soon as I get my camera fixed.Brucepre8

Christian Ways to Reduce Stress

Monday, May 30th, 2005

I got this from an email and I just wanna share how to reduce stress the Christian way!

1. Pray.

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won’t fit into your time schedule or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and un-clutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don’t lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you to do and let go of the anxiety. If you can’t do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don’t use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.,

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble

15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough exercise.

18. Eat right.

19. Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21. Write thoughts and inspirations down.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don’t wait until it’s time to go to bed to try and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of your favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you, Jesus!"

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but yourself, not at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33. Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you’re grateful for, that you’ve never been grateful for before.

GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

The Hunt for the perfect Wedge Espadrilles!

Sunday, May 29th, 2005

Even before the wedge espadrille craze begun, I’ve been already looking for a pair of white 3" wedge espadrilles when I chanced upon some pictures from an old magazine I found at home…this was around January. The model in the magazine was wearing an all white ensemble, tunic and tiered skirt with this fab pair of white espadrille wedge.

I searched for it even in the internet…too bad there wasn’t any at ebay.

Yrl_paquita_espadrille

There is this cute YRL Paquita Espadrille I saw on the internet… (I bet they’re steep)

I searched far and wide…and tho’ I know it may be along shot coz its not uso that time, my obsession for the hunt of a perfect pair of wedge esparilles was given hope when I posted in Girltalk that I was looking for them and this Girltalk friend of mine, Cathy said she’s coming up with one…I bought a pair and I loved it even tho’ it’s only 2"

(This is so comfy! I swear! I pair it will my miniskirts and bermuda shorts)

I was done looking for awhile…

And then the craze came…my obsession came back! HAHA!

Last April in Hongkong,I saw this pair of white wedge espadrilles…but then again it was so steep! So, NO, I didn’t buy it.

Then MANGO came out with their version…it was so nice! Unfortunately, they don’t have my size when I found out about it. :(

It is a good thing that once again, my genius GT friend Cathy came out with another kind of wedge espadrilles…a gold one.

StarWars Episode III:Revenge of the Sith

Friday, May 27th, 2005

I am not good with movie reviews…I just wanna share that I soooo loved this movie. It ended with a heavy heart tho’…nevertheless, it’s a great hit! Of course from Episode I, we all know that Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader in the making. It is just so sad that a love so great ended in a tragic mood… Makes me wanna watch Episodes IV-VI.

Ah basta, ang guapo ni Hayden Christensen…papa! Hehe

For all those who supported Lanie in selling and buying tickets for the St. Cosmas Foundation fund raising in conjunction with the Mr. and Ms. Thomasian Doctors Personality Search…we are forever grateful…THANK YOU. God bless you all.

Ms_thomasian_doctors_2005

The Mr. and Ms. Thomasian Doctors Personality Search is a 50-50 event.

50% Tickets Sales, 50% Pageant.

Thursday night, the last day of canvassing, we felt that Lanie was leading the ticket sales when we remitted the money. It was so obvious. The committee’s reaction gave it away.

Despite a small department, the Family Medicine Department, with help from our friends, did a great job in raising P45,992. That in itself gave Lanie 50% already to start with. All she has to do is give her best during the pageant and pray for fair and honest competition.

A few weeks before, we could already smell "Favoritism." That is why with all our might, we asked for help in raising the funds in order to give Lanie a good start.

"Favoritism"? Well yeah, why not? Weeks prior, Lanie asked if she could represent "

Philippines

" in the National Costume competition coz there is none yet. The committee said, one country per person despite the gender. Since a guy candidate already chose the

Philippines

, she can not use the same country. Only to find out that the "favorite" is going to use

Philippines

.

During the practices, I was coaching Lanie on how to walk and project while taking down notes on my little notebook what she could improve on. I placed the notebook inside my bag. Then, there is this guy doctor who learned that I was a former model, approached me for tips on how to walk upstage. While teaching him, I noticed the "favorite" sat in front where my bag is. As an obsessive compulsive person, I’m pretty sure the notebook was inside my bag. Besides, the notebook has my maiden name on it, so if it was really misplaced, they could have informed Lanie. But noooo, the next day, if Lanie didn’t even ask the head of the org comm if they happen to see a notebook, they wouldn’t even admit they have it. The worst part was, he said "ah, na kay ("favorite"). Andun nga blocking mo eh. Tama ba yun? Why would you read the contents? I’d say, it was intentional. Wow, how desperate can you get? Pathetic!

Anyway, the pageant will be ranked on who is Best in National Costume, Sports, Casual and Evening Wear.

During the Pageant, there is something fishy going on…How did "Darna" win the best in national costume of the

Philippines

when it doesn’t even qualify as a national costume of our country? Darna is a fictitious character. You don’t see WonderWoman represent

USA

in any pageant, do you? How does a red haltered backless paired with formal red shoes qualify to be a casual wear? Is that something you can wear in the mall or on the street? Casual wear means street wear. How does a plain black ensemble beat a flowing aquamarine gown? In fairness, due to uniqueness, "fencing" deserved to qualify as the Best Sports Attire. The blocking was just not justified…she was awkward.

Lanie wore Ms.

Thailand

as her National Costume, a gold embellished tube top with long embellished gold skirt, a headdress and long pointly gold fingers…you know, the typical national costume of

Thailand

.

Ms_ust_2

For sports, since we failed to look for equestrian, we settled for golf coz that is the only outfit we could assemble in a short time.

For casual wear, it was a Boho chic ensemble, very "in" nowadays, that is what you can see in malls and gimmick places right now. It was a white tank top paired with a white bohemian skirt with turquoise multi-layered necklace and matching turquoise dangling earrings. Her shoes were a pair of white espadrille wedge.

For evening wear, Rene Salud sponsored everybody. Lanie’s gown was an aquamarine v-neck embellished top with aquamarine flowy skirt. Her earrings were ala

Hollywood

dangling chandelier earrings.

I was losing hope coz all major prizes was bagged, Lanie didn’t even get a minor award and we are not that sure if she really topped the ticket sales coz it was a secret, only the committee knew who the winner is. I was wishing for a Q and A for Lanie to display her wit and intelligence. That is her forte.

When she joined Ms. Siena College during High School. She didn’t get any Major or Minor Award but when everybody was asked a question, she was the only one who made sense. A real display of wit and intelligence. I knew she would win coz

Siena

College

is a school of integrity…and she did. She was Ms. Siena College. Everyone agreed she deserved it. Even her competitors.

Going back…THERE WAS A TIE! And to break the tie, Dr. Vicky Belo asked one question to both candidates. She asked the candidate’s point of view on euthanasia. Lanie justified the question by stating that she is not in the position to lecture what’s right or wrong with regard to Euthanasia. In her opinion, our life is a precious gift from God and that it is in God’s jurisdiction to take it away from us. Nobody has the right to take precious life from another person. Of course her answer was better than what I wrote but is something to that extent. Only spoken smarter and consistent. A combination of wit and intelligence right there. The other candidate’s answer was "based on her experience" it is not only the patient, their family or the physician who will decide"…blah blah blah…we heard crickets…nobody reacted the way they did after Lanie answered.

To top it all, everybody was expecting Lanie to win. Everybody knew she won. I am not biased but it was quite obvious that she bagged the crown. In everyone’s heart, she is the REAL MS. THOMASIAN DOCTOR.

Despite an excellent answer to a tie-breaker question, the crown was robbed from Lanie, she was just 1st runner up.

Oh well, would you be happy knowing that the pageant was "fixed"? Come on, the head of the org committee came from your department. They can not accept that a small department beat them fair and square. One of the judges even told us that he was surprised his fellow judges would say, "oh ano, sha na ba, o sige sha na" without even computing the grades. Grabe. what kind of judging is that??!

I am just praying that someday, justice will be served. I believe in the golden rule. I believe that the cheaters will have their own karma. Someday, they will all have their karma. I don’t think God will tolerate this kind of cheating.

This pageant could have ended with all integrity but sad to say OBVIOUSLY it did not. No one was happy when "she" was announced the winner.

Enough said, what do you think?
